Profile Description

Julian Granka Ferguson (MA, MSc, Q.Med) is an experienced mediator, negotiator, facilitator and ADR educator. His practice specializes in health care disputes, ADR education, and workplace restoration, but he is well versed in mediating civil disputes and community conflicts.

Julian's career began in ethics, completing a MA in Bioethics from NYU and completing studentships at St. Michael's Hospital and Providence Healthcare in Toronto. He has also acted as an ethics consultant with the Empowerment Council, the patient rights group associated with the Center for Addiction and Mental Health.

Regarding workplace investigations and analysis, Julian brings over five years of experience conducting qualitative research that he earned during his MSc at the University of Toronto. He holds certificates in Advanced Qualitative Methodology from the Centre for Critical Qualitative Health Research, and Operational Research Methods from McGill University. He has translated these skills into a penchant for investigating and analyzing workplace conflicts.

In addition, he teaches bioethics at the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Toronto, and volunteers to teach about mediation and conflict resolution at community centres and NGOs in Toronto.

Professional Experience

Julian is designated with his Q.Med from the Alternative Dispute Resolution Institute of Ontario, and holds a certificate in Dispute Resolution from York University. He also earned a Masters of Arts degree in Bioethics at New York University, and a Masters of Science degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Toronto. He has experience mitigating conflict and resolving disputes as a consulting bioethicist and a private mediator.
